Horse Business

There's nothing like a day full of good old fashioned horseback riding to get you feeling like a genuine cowpoke. You'll quickly realize why cowboys walk like that.

Unique to A Cowboy Town are our gated horses. Almost half of our horses are Tennessee Walking/Saddle horses. They have a very smooth comfortable gait for folks with old or aching bones. Bring a group, call ahead, and request a gaited ride with a no trot guarantee for no extra cost. Of course, we still have plenty of Quarter horses for you cowboys and cowgirls that haven't been converted yet.

3 to 12 year olds qualify for the children rate ($21.05 + Tax). If your child is 3-6 years old, they are too small to be in control of their own horse, so one of our wranglers will do a lead around and be in complete control of that horse at all times. Insurance companies do not allow any doubling on a horse for safety reasons. Small children get to sit on a horse while a wrangler walks them to Kick-a-Poo Lake and back. Parents are welcome to walk along side and take pictures. Lead arounds cannot go with the regular rides since a wrangler cannot keep up for 3.5 miles. We will do our best to accommodate handicap needs, but all riders must be able to sit independently with good balance. Ask about our Family Special Rides if the entire family wants to go with their child on the lead around.

A Cowboy Town has very sweet, tolerant horses. We try to take the very best care of them. Our Army Master Sergeant in a medic unit, and resident R.N. Denise Reynolds keeps our horses wormed and  current on all vaccinations (to include West Nile) and other health issues.

We feed a high quality hay and premium grain twice a day.

Wranglers work hard to keep riders safe, so the ride can be enjoyed by all. Wranglers do have the authority to ban any rider mishandling a horse, endangering themselves or endangering other riders.

We absolutely will not tolerate our horses being mishandled and no refunds will follow a terminated rider.

Anyone under the influence or pregnant will not be allowed to ride. Most of our riders are inexperienced. If you are an advanced rider, we recommend calling ahead and coming during a slower time for an individualized, more challenging ride.
